Why Afrisapients Exists

Expertise across Africa and its global networks has been served by platforms that were not built for it. We built one that was.

Our Name

Africa and Sapience

Afrisapients brings together African insight, expertise, and wisdom. Our name combines Africa with sapience — the capacity for knowledge, judgement, and applied intelligence. We exist to make African expertise more discoverable, connected, and impactful.

Sapience is the capacity for judgement — knowing not only what is true, but what it means in context. That is what African professionals and institutions bring to the questions our clients are working on, and what this platform exists to make discoverable.

The Gap

Africa Is Not a Long-Tail Region

The global expert networks are competent businesses solving a different problem. Their economics are built around the markets that generate the most queries, and their databases reflect that. Africa sits in the long tail: covered in principle, thin in practice, and served from a desk that also covers several other regions.

The consequence is not that no expert is produced. It is that the expert produced is the nearest available match rather than the right one — a regional generalist instead of the regulator who wrote the rule, someone who left the market four years ago instead of someone operating in it now, an English-speaking intermediary instead of the person who actually holds the knowledge.

Institutional investors deploying capital into African markets cannot work from that. They need experts who are current, genuinely local, and cleared for conflicts before a conversation begins. That requires a network built for Africa, recruited market by market, rather than a global database with an Africa filter applied to it.

What We Do

An Expert Network Built for This Continent

Afrisapients connects institutional investors, consulting firms and development finance institutions with verified Africa-focused experts. Clients submit a research brief; we source, verify and compliance-clear the experts who can answer it, then manage the consultation from scheduling through to transcript and summary.

Coverage spans 47 countries and 12 sectors, with depth concentrated in the markets where institutional capital is actually deployed. Where a brief reaches beyond the standing network, we recruit to it rather than substituting the nearest available profile.

Compliance is the operating constraint rather than an administrative layer. Conflict declarations, employer consent and restricted-topic screening complete before a consultation is scheduled, and every engagement leaves an exportable audit record for the client’s own compliance function.

How We Are Different

Four Deliberate Choices

  • Recruited to brief, not retrieved from a database

    The conventional model

A query is run against a standing database and the closest available profile is returned.

    Afrisapients

We map the roles and institutions that hold the knowledge, then approach those individuals for the brief in front of us.

  • Africa-native sourcing

    The conventional model

Africa is served from a global desk, through intermediaries, in one working language.

    Afrisapients

Sourcing is run by people who work these markets, in the languages the markets are run in.

  • Compliance before scheduling

    The conventional model

Documentation is assembled around a consultation that has already happened.

    Afrisapients

Declarations, consent and screening complete before a call is confirmed, or the call does not take place.

  • Transparent, published pricing

    The conventional model

Rates are negotiated per account and vary by how much a client is thought to be able to pay.

    Afrisapients

Prices are published. There are no platform fees, seat licences or transcript charges.
